Blogger Median UI 1.5 template that is popular today turns out to have some shortcomings or weaknesses that can harm the wearer. What are these shortcomings and what are the impact on users of this template? Check out the full review below:
Disadvantages of Median Template 1.5
1. Bug In Picture View
When we post an image with Original size, on the Mobile view looks fine. But when opened using Desktop view. It turns out that the first image of the blog becomes not precise in the middle, but rather out of the edge of the post on the right.
Though the original size of the image is needed when we want the top image of the article to meet the corners of the post to look neat and professional.
I myself have discussed this with the template maker, but there is no solution on the part of the developer on this issue. So, I had to find my own way of polishing it by adding some CSS code in the template.
2. Bugs In Old Reading Positions
There are many things I edited in the Median UI template, some of which are:
- Darkmode icon (dark/night mode)
- The author's profile is displayed in the post as well.
- Headers are made sticky (fixed) on mobile display so if scrolled still visible
- Headers added dividing lines and shadows to separate from the article
- The title of the article is flat middle (center)
But maybe the 5 things above are only related to taste, because everyone is free to choose which one they like. But there's one thing that I don't think is the minute read position that's side by date. See arrows (Before and after edits)
I noticed many large websites put separate "date" and "long read", aka flat left right (justify), so I edited this section to be more neat and precise with the author's name and share button.
3. Bugs In Google Adsense Ads
Google Addsense is a field for Bloggers to make money. But what happens if the field is disturbed by a template?
Yes, the Median UI 1.5 template adversely affects Google Adsense earnings, why? Because this template cannot use 300x600 and 336x280 ad sizes on mobile displays.
All ad sizes on Mobile display will be changed by this template to responsive size. If checked through the Inspect page, all ad code will be forced into height:auto!important size. This can result in lowering advertising revenue as I have experienced at this time.
The 300x600 ad size is perfect for use on widgets on the right, center of the article, and on safelink pages. Because the size of the 300x600 ad has its own uniqueness that can provoke users to click on it. But unfortunately, the Median UI 1.5 mobile version can not bring up this ad.
4. Bug On Popular Post Widget
Modifying the appearance of the blog as we want is very important, because each of us must know that our visitors have certain habits.
For example, my blog visitors. They prefer to visit posts that have thumbnail images rather than just in the form of titles.
Well, the disadvantages of the following Median UI 1.5 template lie in the thumbnail image on the Popular Post widget.
When we activate the Popular Post image, it appears only one of the top images. While the second, third, and subsequent sequences have no pictures.
I've been trying to edit this section. But it turns out to be very difficult and the code is different from the script circulating on Google.
5. Bugs in Related Post
Related posts are often at the end of a blog article. Usually Related Post displays posts related to the label or category of articles that we read.
Based on my experience, a good Related Post look is one that can be seen fully so that it puts more emphasis on the principle of Eye Catching.
The problem is, this Median UI 1.5 template uses Related Post in the form of scroll to the right. This makes visitors a lot of work and difficult to attract the desire to read the visitors. So it has an impact on the number of visits or Page View Blog.
6. Bugs on tables
All table views in the previous post will fall apart after using the Median UI 1.5 template. Whereas before I made a template using Table Generator.
In addition, Google Adsense ads if entered into the table will damage the appearance of the table that we have created.
7. Bug On Mobile Header
Although the Median UI is updated in 2021, it is unfortunate, its mobile headers do not yet use sticky headers. Whereas the average large website has implemented sticky headers so that the logo and navigation menu are visible.
8. Bug On Lazyload / Lazysize
As we know, Lazyload or Lazysize serves to delay the image so that the writing on the Blog appears first and a new image will appear after we scroll the page.
Lazyload is very helpful to speed up the loading of blogs so as to improve the performance of our Blog. But in fact, Lazyload or Lazysize installed in the built-in template Median UI is very useless.
See the following graph, I test using Measure (web.dev) there are many records related to image efficiency that become a sign that lazyload is not maximal or even does not work.
In addition, direct checking can also be seen clearly by opening our Blog, if the image is directly open even though we have not scrolled down, then the lazyload does not work properly or maybe lazyload it just to load other pages only.
It's different if the default Lazyload / Lazysize from the Median UI template we delete all and then replace it with Lazyload from me
function saifulLazyLoad(){eval(function(p,a,c,k,e,d){e=function(c){return(c35?String.fromCharCode(c+29):c.toString(36))};if(!''.replace(/^/,String)){while(c--){d[e(c)]=k[c]||e(c)}k=[function(e){return d[e]}];e=function(){return'\\w+'};c=1};while(c--){if(k[c]){p=p.replace(new RegExp('\\b'+e(c)+'\\b','g'),k[c])}}return p}('u B(){Y(v e=o.1r("B"),t=0;t=0&&t.1w>=0&&t.1v<=(y.1u||o.T.1m)&&t.1k<=(y.1c||o.T.1b)}v b=["\\r\\m\\m\\D\\G\\a\\f\\c\\M\\n\\p\\c\\a\\f\\a\\k","\\h\\f","\\r\\c\\c\\r\\l\\A\\D\\G\\a\\f\\c","\\g\\h\\r\\m","\\p\\l\\k\\h\\g\\g","\\V\\1a\\1e\\R\\h\\f\\c\\a\\f\\c\\M\\h\\r\\m\\a\\m","\\w\\p\\a\\1l\\p\\c\\k\\n\\l\\c","\\r","\\1f\\w\\a\\k\\L\\1j\\a\\g\\a\\l\\c\\h\\k\\W\\g\\g","\\g\\a\\f\\q\\c\\A","\\w\\p\\a\\k\\W\\q\\a\\f\\c","\\c\\a\\p\\c","\\m\\h\\l\\w\\F\\a\\f\\c\\D\\g\\a\\F\\a\\f\\c","\\1i\\h\\m\\L","\\l\\g\\n\\l\\1g","\\p\\l\\k\\h\\g\\g\\1h\\h\\J","\\c\\h\\J","\\q\\a\\c\\S\\h\\w\\f\\m\\n\\f\\q\\R\\g\\n\\a\\f\\c\\1z\\a\\l\\c","\\A\\k\\a\\X","\\a\\1y\\a\\l","\\q\\a\\c\\D\\g\\a\\F\\a\\f\\c\\S\\L\\1F\\m","\\p\\l\\k\\h\\g\\g\\U\\a\\n\\q\\A\\c","\\n\\f\\f\\a\\k\\U\\a\\n\\q\\A\\c","\\J\\k\\a\\G\\a\\f\\c\\V\\a\\X\\r\\w\\g\\c","\\n\\c\\a\\F"];u I(d,j){y[b[0]]?y[b[0]](d,j):y[b[2]](b[1]+d,j)}I(b[3],B),I(b[4],B),o[b[0]](b[5],u(){b[6];Y(v d=o[b[8]](b[7]),j=d[b[9]],s=/1D|1B/i[b[11]](1G[b[10]])?o[b[12]]:o[b[13]],C=u(d,j,s,C){Z(d/=C/2)<1 b="" d-="2)*d*d+2)+j};j--;){d[b[1C]](j)[b[0]](b[14],u(d){v" d="" j:s="" j="" s="" x="o[b[1A]](/[^#]+$/[b[19]](1H[b[18]])[0])[b[17]]()[b[16]],z=s[b[1d]]-y[b[1s]],O=z">E+x?x:z-E,K=1o,H=u(d){j=j||d;v x=d-j,z=C(x,E,O,K);s[b[15]]=z,K>x&&P(H)};P(H),d[b[1E]]()})}});',62,106,'||||||||||x65|_0x1b5d|x74|_0xdd48x2||x6E|x6C|x6F||_0xdd48x3|x72|x63|x64|x69|document|x73|x67|x61|_0xdd48x4||function|var|x75|_0xdd48x7|window|_0xdd48x8|x68|lazy|_0xdd48x5|x45|_0xdd48x6|x6D|x76|_0xdd48xb|registerListener|x70|_0xdd48xa|x79|x4C|src|_0xdd48x9|requestAnimationFrame|isInViewport|x43|x42|documentElement|x48|x44|x41|x66|for|return|||||||||||x4F|clientWidth|innerWidth|21|x4D|x71|x6B|x54|x62|x53|left|x20|clientHeight|data|900|getAttribute|length|getElementsByClassName|22|getBoundingClientRect|innerHeight|top|right|bottom|x78|x52|20|trident|24|firefox|23|x49|navigator|this'.split('|'),0,{}));} eval(function(p,a,c,k,e,d){e=function(c){return c.toString(36)};if(!''.replace(/^/,String)){while(c--){d[c.toString(a)]=k[c]||c.toString(a)}k=[function(e){return d[e]}];e=function(){return'\\w+'};c=1};while(c--){if(k[c]){p=p.replace(new RegExp('\\b'+e(c)+'\\b','g'),k[c])}}return p}('j 4=["\\7\\9\\9\\e\\d\\a\\b\\8\\i\\g\\h\\8\\a\\b\\a\\k","\\f\\c\\7\\9","\\7\\8\\8\\7\\m\\l\\e\\d\\a\\b\\8","\\c\\b\\f\\c\\7\\9"];5[4[0]]?5[4[0]](4[1],6,!1):5[4[2]]?5[4[2]](4[1],6):5[4[3]]=6;5[4[0]]?5[4[0]](4[1],6,!1):5[4[2]]?5[4[2]](4[1],6):5[4[3]]=6;',23,23,'||||_0xdfb4|window|saifulLazyLoad|x61|x74|x64|x65|x6E|x6F|x76|x45|x6C|x69|x73|x4C|var|x72|x68|x63'.split('|'),0,{}));
Then the warning of the speed test Measure (web.dev) and Pagespeed Insight will be reduced and the speed score will increase to this way.
However, our job is not done yet. Because the author image and relatedpost so do not appear even though it has been scrolled, because the code from the Median UI is different from the usual template. So, we have to edit another part again.
Until now I'm still looking for ways to fix this template, once everything has been fixed. I'll share a tutorial on improving the Median UI template to make it more perfect.
Conclusion
Although the performance score, accesibility, best practices, and SEO template Median UI 1.5 is relatively high and good. But there are still many shortcomings to be fixed.
Plus there is no guarantee of our income so increase if the score is high but not friendly to the size of the ad. It's more than using a regular template.
In addition, this Median UI version 1.5 template is not suitable for Safelink pages, because it cannot use the size of ads we want that can boost income.
So, after buying this template, our task is not finished, because there are still many scripts and codes that must be edited to be more maximal. Check out here Bugs solution on Median UI
